Every machine that vacuums, blows, or moves air needs something between the dirty air and the parts you don't want dust in. That's this filter. It catches the fine stuff the eye can't see and keeps it out of bearings, windings, and impellers. Ten dollar part protecting a several-hundred-dollar motor. Not a bad trade.
This is the genuine Nilfisk Advance OEM FILTER MAIN AES GM/GS82 625, part number L01723200, brand new in the box. Check filters every service interval, whether the machine feels different or not — by the time you feel the drop in performance, the motor's been working hard for a while.
Aftermarket filters vary in micron rating and airflow. Genuine OEM is spec'd to move the volume the machine's designed around at the filtration level it needs.
